JOY (Just Older Youth) is a group at St. John’s for people 60 and over.

A few of the purposes of this 60 and Over Group are:

  • To recognize older adults as gifts of God to the church.
  • To enable and encourage older adults to share their faith, gifts, and talents.
  • To provide opportunities for fellowship, recreation, and hobbies.
  • To provide educational opportunities to understand and deal with the issues of aging.

S.A.G.E.S (Saints ALive! Growing, Ever Serving)

The Older Adult Ministry Committee of our Minnesota South District publishes a quarterly newsletter called Sagacity. It contains news, announcements, Bible studies and games of particular interest to older adults.

The JOY Group hosted a special event Praising through Music on December 12, 2021.

Martin Luther was quoted as saying, “Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world. As long as we live there is never enough singing.” Martin would have liked the Sister Luv performance as much as the 50 people who attended it. Sister Luv’s Christmas music not only reminded everyone of the reason for the birth of Jesus but praised him for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life his grace brings.

Thank you to the JOY group for sponsoring the concert and those who helped us set up, serve and clean up, and to those who supported the choir’s new sound system with your generous gifts! Thanks to you and a special donor, we will share the new system as it accompanies two of our Christmas Eve anthems. And an extra special “thank you” to Stan and Kathy Tordsen for arranging this fun, Christmas concert for the Joy group and other guests! It was a wonderful afternoon!
