Pastor Steve is Deliberating Another Call
On Sunday, August 27th, the Voters’ Assembly of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit, MO, extended a divine call to me to serve them as their next Associate Pastor of Youth and Family Ministry. This means that I now have two calls, one to St. Matthew, and also the one I currently serve as your Pastor. Over the next 3-4 weeks, I will be prayerfully considering and deliberating between the two calls as to which one I will serve.
St. Matthew is located in Lee’s Summit, an eastern suburb of Kansas City, on the western border of Missouri. The greater Kansas City metropolitan area is home to just over 2 million people. The church itself has a baptized member of over 900, with weekly attendance at around 320 people.
Over the past few years, the people of St. Matthew have adjusted to having a staff of three pastors: the Senior Pastor (Rev. Craig Otto), an Associate Pastor of Mission and Outreach, and an Associate Pastor of Youth and Family. While St. Matthew was in the process of preparing to call the latter Associate of Youth and Family, their other Associate Pastor, Rev. Matthew Hardaway, accepted a call to serve down in Texas. So, within the next couple of weeks, the congregation will have two vacancies.
If you would like to know more about their congregation, please see their church website here.
Please keep the people of St. Matthew, the people of St. John’s, and my family in your prayers at this time. This is God’s Church (of which we are ever grateful!!!), and we trust that whatever the outcome may be, He will work all things to the good of His people (Romans 8:28). If you would like to discuss the calls in more detail, please feel free to visit with me any time! And I will try to keep you posted on any updates on this page.
